Colorful Kenyan drama follows the lives of Kena and Ziki. Despite family quarrels, they want more than just getting married and depending on a man.

Set in Kenya, Rafiki follows Kena and Ziki, two young adult girls who support each other through thick and thin. Every Kenyan woman dreams of a man who can take care of her and a mortgage. Kena and Ziki want more; not the life imposed on them by their families, but a life full of adventure and true love. When love blossoms between the girls, they really experience how narrow and rigid the world around them is. The rivalry between their families creates tension and forces the girls to choose between safety or happiness.

Rafiki was nominated for the Queer Palm at the Cannes Film Festival, among others.
