Theaterregisseur Caden Cotard (Philip Seymour Hoffman) worstelt met zijn werk en de vrouwen in zijn leven, terwijl hij in een pakhuis een levensgrote replica van New York City creëert als onderdeel van zijn nieuwe toneelstuk. Step into the mind-bending world of "Synecdoche, New York," the powerful debut movie of Charlie Kaufman' - writer of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind and Being John Malkovich. Theatre director Caden Cotard (Philip Seymour Hoffman) struggles with his work, and the women in his life, as he creates a life-size replica of New York City inside a warehouse as part of his new play. Blurring the lines between reality and imagination, the film explores the intricacies of identity, relationships, and the human experience. The film is all about chaos, the theme of this year’s month of the philosophy and is a co-production of study association Ideefiks and Studium Generale.
